European and Italian pickleball organizations 
The International Federation of Pickleball (IFP) was founded in 2010 to regulate and support the growth of pickleball all over the world. Today it comprises more than 60 national associations and oversees the annual Bainbridge Cup tournament. The European Pickleball Federation is a brand new institution (founded in May 2023) and includes the vast majority of Europeans countries. In Italy, oversight and promotion of the sport began with the National Pickleball Association, and and was expanded in 2023 when the Italian Tennis Federation (FITP) introduced its first pickleball division, which is expected to greatly expand pickleball competition and player development across the country in coming years.

Italian tournaments are usually available on Pickleball.global, one of the largest community and tournament online platforms for pickleball. The key tournaments are the International Pickleball Championships in Rome, usually in the spring time, and the Italian Open Pickleball Championships in Tocco da Casauria (near the city of Pescara), end of each summer. Both places are great for a travel stop. Rome does not need introductions, and Tocco da Casauria is a medieval village tucked in a national park. Both events include local experiences and visits for the participants.
